Product Shot 1 The Pros:Very good traction in winter. Aggressive tread pattern with soft rubber. Long lasting tread.

The Toyo Observe GSi5 winter tire handles snow, slush, ice, or just slippery roads.  A variety of sizes are available to fit passenger, light truck, van, or SUV vehicles.  Features include:

  • Unidirectional Tread Pattern to optimize traction for both braking and acceleration
  • "Microbit Technology" consisting of crushed walnut shells embedded in the tire tread compound that dig and bite into the ice surface for improved ice traction.
  • Absorbant carbonic power to absorb moisture on the road allowing the tire to better contact the road surface for increased performance.
  • "Spider Sipe Technology", which is an advanced multi-directional sipe to ensure maximum grip when you are cornering, accelerating or braking.
  • Increased levels of silica and dispersion improvement allows better block flexibility at lower temperatures enhancing wet grip and braking, while maintaining traction in low temperatures.
  • Large tread blocks with saw-toothed edges for improved traction in snow and slush when braking or accelerating.
  • Wide lateral groves help evacuate slush for better road grip
  • Continuous centre rib with swing sipe ensures improved straight line stability while a "wave sipe technology" increases ice traction in all directions.
  • "First Edge sipe technology" helps enhance initial traction when tire is new.
  • "Arrow Lift technology" helps propel the vehicle through slushy or snowy rutted roads.

dakalvia: #toyo_observe_gsi_5_winter_tire I have this tire and the older version (Observe G-02) and they are both amazing winter tires. Worth the investment, and they will last you 5 to 10 winters because of the great tread life. Sep 20, 11

Anonymous: No tire lasts 10 yrs...get real Nov 1, 11

Anonymous: I work for a tire shop in the pacific northwest and have been putting on tires with DOT# dates ranging from 2 years to stuf built in the late 80s. Tires will last you years and years depending on how you drive and the care you have for your tires. To help tires last longer it is best to ensure correct air pressure and exposure to the elements (proper storage durring the off months).
60 min put on a special about needing to change your tires every 7 years which is bogus. Life expectancy depends on tire care, vehicle maintence, and exposure to UV radiation. I have in my store at this moment tires that were built in 65 still looking like the day they were shiped to us (plus a lot of dust). Not saying i would run a tire that old and that has been out in the sun the whole time but just looking at your tires can give you an indication of how long your snow tires will last you. Dec 3, 11
