Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval

$200.00 Released January, 2005

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Last longer than most performance tires out there, wear down about as fast as a typical all-season tire. Grip on dry pavement is excellent, accelerate and brake very well. Handling around corners is excellent, can take them at speed.

The Cons:Loose all traction in the snow, need to get off the road if these are on the car and it snows. Prone to hydroplaning if you hit a deep puddle too fast.

Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval is a performance tire with a retro look. A Computer Optimized Component System is used to coordinate the various parts of the tire for maximize performance. To ensure ride comfort, an O-Bead is used that runs a continuous strand of cable in the bead construction.

This is further enhanced by a design that maintains a consistent surface contact, reducing vibrations for a more comfortable ride as well as improving handling in both wet and dry conditions. High speed uniformity is maintained through the use of a Spiral Wrap of nylon. Wet traction is increased with the use of silica in the tread compound for flexibility, and Weather Grip HP Tread Compound is used to gain traction in wet conditions as well as increase durability. Long link carbon is used in the tread to help resist cracks and chips.
